Benefit to help Gary Meyer

Meyer benefitMeyer
A benefit to help Gary Meyer fight leukemia will be hosted by family and friends 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Broadway Pizza, 16754 Highway 10, Elk River. Tickets are available at the door for $15. The afternoon will include food, beer, a silent auction and raffles.
Meyer was diagnosed with CML leukemia in March. The disease is not curable, but with medication, which Meyer will be on for the rest of this life, it can be managed.
Before his diagnosis, Meyer enjoyed fishing, playing pool and working part time doing concrete work. Currently the strong cancer medication he is taking makes him very weak, tired, in pain and often sick. Meyer also had a heart attack the first week in June.
The benefit will be held to assist Meyer and his wife with some of their expenses and raise awareness about leukemia.
