Letter to editor: Forgotten flags sadden veteran

I proudly served in the military for four years. I did this with a feeling of duty, honor, country. The biggest symbol for this duty is the American flag.

This year, as in previous years, I see flags placed near ground level to celebrate an occasion. Unfortunately, these flags are soon forgotten and disgraced as the flags fall on the ground and are not attended to with the respect the flag deserves. I wish the people that put them out would treat the flag with full respect.

The flags on Highway 10 and Main Street at the Chamber of Commerce are a prime example of this. — Ed Peterson, Elk River
