After two losses, the Elk River Legion picked up a victory over Providence Academy, 5-2, on Friday in the four-day Delano tournament that concludes Saturday.
Alex Babcock threw a four-hitter with six strikeouts to pick up the win for the Elks (7-6).
Sam Wirtz went 3-for-3, scored two runs and drove home one. Mylo Hommes, Porter Morrell and Babcock also had RBI hits.
The Elks lost to Osseo 4-2 on Wednesday, giving up a two-run homer in the last of the seventh. Morrell pitched the distance, allowing eight hits. Erik Nyquist was 2-for-3 and Babcock had an RBI single.
The Elks lost to Minneapolis Southwest 5-3 on Thursday despite a 10-hit attack led by Terry Hadden and Nyquist, each 3-for-4. Hadden took the loss, allowing five runs (three earned) in five innings, giving up just two hits but walking seven. Brady Givens pitched two scoreless innings. The Elks pulled within 5-3 in the fifth when Jordan Hollom tripled home a run and scored by Hommes’ sac fly.
