College athletes: Winskowski caps stellar softball career with Elks, Augustana

Chelsi Winskowski, Augustana senior outfielder from Elk River, batted .248 with two homers, 21 runs and 20 RBI for the Vikings (32-17) in the final season of a distinguished softball career. Her best college season was last year when she hit .345 with 9 RBI and 43 runs. Winskowski is the Elk career leader with 126 hits, 99 runs and 52 walks and was one of the leaders of the 2009 state champion team.

Tucker Morrell and the Anoka-Ramsey baseball team had a tough season. The team finished 3-21 while the freshman from Elk River had a .189 batting average and 0-4 mound record with a 9.29 ERA. He did lead the team with 13 walks and had an on-base percentage over .450.

Andy Peterson, Northwestern (St. Paul) junior pitcher and first baseman from Rogers, made the all-UMAC baseball team, posting a 6-3 mound record while batting .306. He was voted captain for 2014.

Ethan Lunning, St. Olaf freshman trackster from Zimmerman, placed second in the discus (150-10) and seventh in hammer throw (147-10) at the MIAC outdoor meet on May 10 at St. Thomas, helping the Ole’s place fourth as a team.
