Alan Frank and the St. Michael Saints handed the Elk River Pioneers 7-1 on Sunday evening at Hales Field.

Frank, a left-hander, went the distance, throwing a six-hitter with four strikeouts, as the Saints avenged an earlier loss to the Pioneers.

Terry Hadden, 2013 ERHS graduate making his first pitching appearance for the town team, threw two good innings before the Saints scored four runs in the third on two walks and four hits. Jared Dehmer’s two-run double was the big blow.

Hadden gave up five runs in four-plus innings. Brady Givens, another 2013 grad in his first mound appearance for the Pioneers, gave up one run in 2 1/3 innings. Jim Brown pitched the final 2 2/3, allowing one run.

Brandon Meyer hit a triple and scored on Brown’s ground out for the lone Pioneers run. Kam Crandall was 2-for-4.

The Pioneers (5-3) will host Albertville on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and Big Lake on Saturday at 1 p.m.
