Jake Maron’s two-run homer highlighted a 13-hit attack by the Isanti Redbirds as they scuttled the Elk River Pioneers 8-4 on Monday evening in Isanti.
The Pioneers (5-2) had just 10 players and finished with nine when pitcher/first baseman Aaron Pipenhagen pulled a hamstring. First-base coach Dale Kaminski had to finish the game for the Pioneers.
Maron was 2-for-3 with his homer and Kyle Johnson 3-for-4 with an RBI for Isanti (6-5).
Josh Juntunen took the loss, giving up nine hits and five runs in four innings. Tucker Morrell threw four innings, allowing four hits and three runs (one earned).
Kam Crandall was 2-for-4 with two runs for the Pioneers. Cory Kaminski had two RBI on a single and force-out.
Isanti starter Cole Bakke limited the Pioneers to one run in four innings. Brian Schultz fired three no-hit innings with four strikeouts.
The Pioneers will host Hamel on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
