Spectrum High School’s first two state track meet qualifiers both had an excellent state meet capped by appearances on the medal podium on Saturday at Hamline.
Spectrum senior Kalvin Diekman was state Class A runner-up in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.34. Diekman, whose personal beat of 15.14 came at sectionals, ran 15.53 at state prelims Friday, the third-best time, moved up a notch in the finals. Jon Tollefson of St. Croix Lutheran won decisively in 14.72.
Spectrum junior Kayla Zimmerman placed fourth in the 800 meters with 2:18.06, after running a 2:17.76 in prelims (third best). Cannon Falls junior Emi Trost win with 2:15.05. Zimmerman’s section-winning time was 2:20.62.
