Lacrosse: ERZ girls face Stillwater in state opener Tuesday

The Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman girls lacrosse team will meet Stillwater in the opening round of the state tournament Tuesday.

ERZ (13-3) and No. 3 seeded Stillwater (14-2) will be the leadoff game at 1 p.m. at Chanhassen High School, followed by Armstrong (14-1) vs. No. 2 Blake (13-3), Champlin Park (9-5) vs. No. 1 Eden Prairie (15-1) and No. 5 Burnsville (14-1) vs. No. 4 Lakeville North (12-4).

Coaches voted on seedings with the three unseeded teams drawn from a hat as opponents for the top three seeds.

The state field includes three Northwest Suburban Conference teams. ERZ beat Champlin Park and lost to Armstrong during the season.

On Thursday at Chaska, consolation games will be played at 1 and 3 p.m. and semifinals at 5 and 7 p.m. Finals will be held next Saturday at Chanhassen, third place at 1 p.m., fifth place at 3 p.m. ad the championship at 5 p.m.
