Bids have been received for the Second Avenue North street improvement project to connect 45 to Second Street East in Zimmerman. Assessments were published based on the best bid received, and the public hearing was Saturday, June 8.
Roger Muntzer, a Zimmerman property owner, was disgruntled with how high the assessments were. He argued the taxes on a parcel of land he owns and a building were almost as much as the land was worth to sell. He also expressed frustration with how close the new sidewalk was going to be built to a shop space he rents, which will affect how it could be used.
Council members decided to visit his property and take a look for themselves before deciding if they would build the sidewalk closer to the curb
