Golf: Thunder’s McNulty misses ‘state’ by one stroke

The Zimmerman golfers placed eighth among 16 teams in the Section 6AA meet Monday at Blackberry Ridge in Sartell, shooting 346.  Staples-Motley won with 299.

Max McNulty missed state qualifying by one stroke with 119 for 27 holes. He opened with 78 to qualify for the final 18 Tuesday and shot 41 as rain shortened the event to nine holes. The 78 tied his career best. David Molinari missed the cut by one with 83.

“It was a solid season for the Thunder, but we have high hopes going into next year with McNulty, Molinari and others coming back,” said coach Kurran Sagan.
