Austyn Beese and Kathi Opsahl, seniors on the Elk River softball team that will play in the state tournament next week, will return to North Mankato a week later to play in the coaches association all-star series.
Beese is a shortstop hitting .321 with 15 RBI and 13 runs while anchoring a solid Elks infield. Opsahl, a left fielder, is batting .533 with 30 runs-batted-in, four homers and 16 doubles.
The Elks (18-3) face Orono in the first round of the state Class AAA tournament Thursday at 9 a.m. The quarterfinals and semifinals are played Thursday and the finals on Friday.
The all-star games will be held Sunday, June 9, with two games.
