The Rogers Royals won the final two Mississippi 8 meets of the season this week, wrapping up their sixth consecutive championship and extending their win streak to 37 straight meets.
Morgan Rask, Rogers senior, shot a career-low 67 at Wild Marsh in Buffalo on Thursday to pull out the season medal, slipping past Cambridge-Isanti’s Matt Swanson, who shot 73.
The Royals had five of the 10 all-conference players, with Rocky Nelson, Kyle Korva, Luke Bunkers and Dylan Kline joining Rask. (See list below.)
The Royals shot 299 at Wild Marsh, followed by STMA with 326 and Buffalo with 328. Other Rogers scores were Nelson 75, Korva 78, and Kline 79.
Rask had a bogie-free 18 holes. He missed an eight-foot putt on No. 10 but sank an 18-footer to save par. Kline had the “play of the day,” said coach Dan Bursheim, with a recovery from the trees on No. 14 to salvage a bogie.
The Royals won at Monticello’s meet at Riverwood on Tuesday with 318, barely keeping that win streak going as STMA shot 320, with Buffalo next at 333.
Low shooters that day were Cambridge-Isanti’s Nate Cox and STMA’s Zac Borgen with 76′s. Nelson led Rogers with 78, tying for third.
