Golf: Elks 4th in NWSC finale, place 6th in season

The Elk River boys placed fourth in the final Northwest Suburban Conference meet on Thursday at Bunker Hills, and finished sixth among 11 teams for the season.

Maple Grove won the meet with 307 and was season champion after six meets. The Crimson also had the season medalist in Jackson Lanou, who averaged 37.48.

Anson Kuznick of Champlin Park was medalist 69 at Bunker Hills.

Elk River scored 320 and was one stroke behind two teams tied for second place. Jason Peterson scored 40-37-77, Chase Springman 40-39-79, Cooper Bleyhl 42-40-82 and Riley Johnson 41-41-82.

Johnson led the Elks in the conference season with a 40.33 average, ranking 12th. Peterson averaged 40.63 and Bleyhl 41.40.

Next for the Elks is Section 7AAA starting Monday at Hinckley.
