David Molinari shot a team-record 73 for the Zimmerman golf team on Thursday as the Thunder placed 16th of 20 teams at The Preserve Invitational in Pequot Lakes.
Molinari, a junior, shot 2-under-par, with 14 pars, three bogeys and one birdie in posting the lowest score in the three-year history of the program.
He placed fifth among 14 golfers in the meet. Medalist Collin Seal of Chanhassen shot 68.
“I was able to keep on the fairways — I hit 11 fairways and 15 greens,” said Molinari, who averages 80 to 81 and had a previous low of 78. “I had all two putts except one three-putt.”
Zimmerman scored 347 with Max McNulty at 84, Cody Slocum 93 and Justin Diegnau 98.
Hastings was the team winner with 300.
Next for Zimmerman is the Becker Invitational on Friday.
