Lacrosse: ERZ girls lose to Coon Rapid 6-5

Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman lost a defensive tussle to Coon Rapids 6-5 on Monday in Coon Rapids, with Sammi DeJoy scoring three goals for the Cardinals.

“There was amazing defense on both ends,” said ERZ coach Stephanie Anderson whose team had been averaging 14.5 goals per game.”Coon Rapids is very good at cutting off your angles.”

ERZ got two goals from Mackenzie Perna and one each from Emily Antony, Annie Dalton and Kaylee Forster.

In goal, Kim Scott stopped 13 of 17 shots on goal and Michelle Klimstra 15 of 17, while Coon Rapids’ Allison Weber stopped 7 of 12.

“They had a lot more shots. Kim and Michelle both did a great job for us,” said Anderson.

ERZ, 8-3 overall, finished NWSC play 6-3. Coon Rapids is 8-1 in conference and 10-2 overall.

ERZ will close the regular season with a home game Thursday vs. Buffalo and a game at STMA on Friday.
