Baseball: Pioneers top Mora 2-1 in 10th to open season

The Elk River Pioneers won their opener 2-1 over Mora in 10 innings on Saturday in opener.

Ben Hendrickson pitched three innings, Josh Juntenen five innings, and Jim Brown two innings for the Pioneers. Henrickson and Juntenen each struck out five. Juntenen gave up the run. Brown wound up getting the win.

The Pioneers scored on a ground out with bases loaded in the top of the 10th, a slow roller where the only play was to first base. The earlier run scored on a sacrifice fly.

For Moa, Logan Orazem pitched seven innings, Jake Oslin one and Ryan V an Someran the final two.

Elk River will play at St. Michael on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
