Ashley Ryding knocked in two runs in the last of the seventh as the Zimmerman Thunder posted a 5-4 win over a strong section rival, Maple Lake, on Friday at home.
McKenna Butau pitched a six-hitter with three strikeouts. After giving up three runs in the first, she started to bear down, said coach Emily Zahn.
In the seventh, with the Thunder down 4-3, Katelyn Bauer led off with a single, Carlie Lage beat out a sacrifice bunt and Morgan Feldick got on base via infield error. With bases loaded, Ryding singled to score the game-winners.
Ryding was 3-for-4, while Gabby Antolak and Bauer were each 2-for-3. Antolak had an RBI.
The Thunder (9-3) will play at Princeton on Monday.
