Elk River guard Jordyn Sohns has signed with Jamestown (N.D.) College to play basketball, announced Jimmies coach Greg Ulland.
“Jordyn is a hardworking athlete who was thrust into numerous positions in high school and excelled at all of them,” Ulland said. “We are very excited for her to bring her versatility to the Jimmie family!”
The 5-foot-10 Sohns averaged 9.9 points, 2.5 assists and 2.4 steals this year for the Elks (16-13).
Sohns is also a standout hurdler in track, reaching state finals in the 100 hurdles last year, and was the Elks’ Athena Award recipient as top female senior athlete.
Jamestown is coming off 26-7 season. They reached the second round of the NAIA Division II national tournament. Three players graduated.
“I chose Jamestown because I like small town areas, all of the people there were so nice, and I just had the feeling that it was the right fit for me,” said Sohns, who plans to major in Exercise Science. “Coach Ulland made me feel like I was a part of the basketball family.”
Elk coach Reed Caouette commented, “I think Jordyn will flourish at the college level. She is a hard worker.”
