Anna Pipenhagen hurled her sixth shutout of the season and Kathi Opsahl belted her fourth homer as Elk River thumped Centennial 10-0 for their 11th straight win, Thursday in Circle Pines.
Pipenhagen, junior right-hander, parceled out four hits and four walks, striking out eight, in the five-inning romp. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI.
Opsahl had a solo homer and double in two trips. All nine starters had at least one hit and eight had at least one RBI. The Elks’ 14 hits included four doubles, two triples and the homer.
Marie Deaton and Ali Krohn each had a single and triple. Jess Neuman and Austyn Beese each smacked a double. Beese had two RBI. Jayme Langbeyn, Courtney Jensen and Michaela Bruns also had a hit each.
Caty Schleoer took the loss for Centennial (4-6).
The Elks have one conference loss, to Anoka, one of two teams unbeaten in conference. The Elks will host the other team tied for first place, Maple Grove, on Monday.
Two homers help Elks beat Osseo 12-4
Home runs by Michaela Bruns and Ali Krohn highlighted a 16-hit attack as Elk River beat the Osseo Orioles 12-4 at Osseo on Wednesday.
Bruns was 4-for-5 with a double, homer, two runs and three RBI. Krohn was 3-for-4 with three runs, a steal and one RBI.
Anna Pipenhagen, Jess Neuman and Kathi Opsahl all had two hits and an RBI. Marie Deaton had two RBI and Jayme Langbehn one.
Pipenhagen struck out nine, giving up two hits and nine walks.
