Football: Five Thunder seniors headed for college football

Five Zimmerman football players are headed for college teams, announced Thunder coach Tom Kish.

Jeff Mueller, fullback and linebacker, and Cory Jopp, lineman, have signed conference letters of intent to play for Minnesota-Moorhead as walk-ons.

Collin Ashley, halfback and defensive back, signed a national letter of intent for Concordia-St. Paul.

Jeremy Sloneker, guard and linebacker, and Cam Korlath, quarterback and linebacker, have committed to Minnesota-Morris, a Division III program that doesn’t require formal signings.

Four ZHS graduates are already playing college football. Last fall, Jamal Samaha was a backup defensive lineman as a freshman at Augustana, after one redshirt season. Jake Antolak started at Minnesota-Moorhead at center as a true freshman. Ethan Lunning saw action as a freshman linebacker at St. Olaf. Albin Sterneman is a lineman at Northwestern-St. Paul.
