Elk River cruised to three shutout victories at Richfield on Saturday, outscoring their rivals by a combined 33-0. They beat Duluth East 7-0, Richfield 17-0 and Minneapolis Southwest 9-0.
Anna Pipenhagen pitched 10 innings with 20 strikeouts, allowing just three hits, for the Elks (7-1), picking up two wins. Olivia Wolters threw seven innings and had one win.
Kathi Opsdahl went 7-for-12 with three doubles, a home run, six runs and six RBI.
Michaela Bruns was 7-for-12 with six RBI. Marie Deaton was 5-for-9 plus two walks, with five RBI, seven runs and two stolen bases.
Pipenhagen had a two-hitter with 12 K’s in the 7-0 win over Duluth East. Opsdahl was 2-for-4 (two doubles, three RBI), Bruns 3-for-4 (double, two RBI), and Deaton 2-for-3 (two runs, RBI). Duluth East starter Vanessa Kohl took the loss.
The Elks sprayed out 19 hits in the 17-0, five-inning rout of Richfield, including home runs by Opsahl and Jayme Langbehn. Pipenhagen threw four innings (one hit, three walks, eight strikeouts) and Olivia Wolvers finished (one inning, two strikeouts).
Beese was 4-for-4 (two runs, RBI), Deaton 1-for-3 (four RBI), Bruns 2-for-4 (two RBI), Opsdahl 3-for-4 (four runs), Jess Neuman 2-for-3 (two RBI), Langbehn 2-for-2 (two runs, three RBI), Sydney Person 1-for-1 (RBI), Wolters 1-for-1 (RBI), and Alyssa Germscheid 1-for-2 (two runs, RBI). Richfield starter Sarah Malafarins took the loss.
Wolters pitched all six innings in the 9-0 win over Southwest, allowing two hits and no walks, striking out eight. Deaton, Bruns, and Opsahl had two hits each, and Bruns, Opsahl and Ali Krohn two RBI each.
