Refuge seeks input on documents

Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge near Zimmerman has completed an environmental assessment compatibility determination for a proposed visitor center and education facility at the refuge.

Although the assessment is written for an entire visitor center, classroom and headquarters complex, plans at this time include construction of only the classroom portion of the facility. This building would accommodate approximately 60 people and include environmental education and interpretive programs, as well as space for meetings for small events.

The public is invited to review the environmental assessment and compatibility documents and provide feedback during a comment period ending May 30.

The documents are available at Paper copies are available at the refuge headquarters, 17076 293rd Ave., Zimmerman, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or by calling 763-389-3323.
