The Elk River girl golfers, seeking a fifth straight conference title with a lineup a little less formidable than recent years, had a slight setback in their NWSC opener on Thursday.
The Andover Huskies beat the Elks via the fifth-score tiebreaker after each team shot 185 in a four-team meet at Bunker Hills. Coon Rapids had 211 and Park Center 236.
The conference schedule includes small meets against all conference rivals, then a single meet with all 11 teams.
Sierra Langlie of Andover was low shooter with 39, followed by Morgan Bleyhl of the Elks with 43. Other Elk counters were Mary Elmquist with 45, Samantha Lindeen 48 and Alexa Filipiak 49.
The Elks will play in the Alexandria Invitational on Saturday.
