Softball: Homer wraps up Elk River’s 14-2 win over Blaine

Anna Pipenhagen crashed a three-run homer, Elk River’s 15th hit of the game, to wrap up a 14-2, six-inning victory over the Blaine Bengals at home on Wednesday.

Pipenhagen, also the winning pitcher, was 3-for-4 with five RBI. Her homer, lined over the left-field fence on the first pitch to her, was the Elks’ first round-tripper of the season. On the mound she struck out 10 in six innings, giving up six hits and five walks.

Leadoff batter Austyn Beese was 3-for-4 with four RBI. Jess Neuman was 3-for-4 (three runs), Courtney Jensen 2-for-3 (three RBI), Jayme Langbehn 1-for-2 (two runs, RBI), Michaela Bruns 1-for-3 (double), and Ali Korhn 1-for-3 (two runs).

Kelsey Domigal of Blaine gave up all 15 hits but had a much better day at the plate, rapping four of the six hits of Pipenhagen.

Elk River (2-1 conference, 3-1 overall) will host Park Center on Thursday.
