Baseball: Thunder blank Milaca 4-0 in season opener

Three Zimmerman pitchers teamed for a three-hit shutout as the Thunder opened with season with a 4-0 win over Milaca at home on Tuesday.

Brandon Sevre worked three innings, Ryan Wystepek one, and Taylor Snow the final three for the Thunder.

Coach Matt Kraus praised the control of Sevre, who put 20 of 31 pitches in the strike zone, and Snow (a freshman), who was 17 of 27.

Cullen Stroke delivered two RBI’s on squeeze bunts, and made the key defensive play of the game, throwing out a runner from deep in the hole at shortstop with runners at second and third in the fifth.

Austin Tretbar was the only player in the game with two hits. Craig Steiskal made two successful sacrifices.

Zimmerman will play a double header at Albany on Thursday.
