Katie Kemmetmueller tossed a five-inning one-hitter as the Rogers Royals opened with an 11-1 win over Princeton on Friday evening at Youth Athletic Complex near ElkĀ  River.

Kemmetmueller, freshman right-hander who made all-conference last year as a third baseman, struck out 10 and walked none. The run was unearned.

Maddie Anderson led the attack, going 3-for-4 with a double three runs. Emma Swanson delivered a two-rundouble.

The Royals gave new coach Jerry Bruns a successful debut.

The game was moved to YAC, where Elk River was also opening its season, when the Rogers field was deemed still unplayable earlier Friday.

The Royals will play host St. Cloud Tech on Monday, originally scheduled to be played in St. Cloud but their fields aren’t ready.
