Elaine Anderson, 90, helped start Elk River Community Theatre

Elaine Anderson, 90, who helped start and maintain the Elk River Community Theatre, died Tuesday at the Guardian Angels Care Center.

A memorial service will be April 30 at 7 p.m. in the Guardian Angels Care Center senior dining site.

Elaine, her husband Les, Doug Johnson and Rich Dreissig organized the Elk River Community Theatre, and produced their first show “Oklahoma” in 1976.  She was active in the theatre until she developed Alzheimer’s disease. She was a resident of the Guardian Angels Care Center for seven years.

Memorials are preferred for Guardian Angels of Elk River and the Elk River Community Theatre.

Elaine was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Minneapolis.

She studied journalism at Anoka Ramsey Community college, and for many years was a reporter for the Sherburne County Star News.

She is survived by her daughter Eileen Anderson, sons Glen and Wayne, and many grandchildren.  Her husband Les died March 28, 2009.
