Margie Hudson has been honored as the city of Elk River’s Volunteer of the Month for April.
She was recognized by Mayor John Dietz at the Monday, April 15, City Council meeting.
Dietz said Hudson has volunteered in virtually every capacity at Elk River United Methodist Church, where she currently does the church’s banking.
She also gathers pledges and walks in the CROP Walk and bakes and delivers Christmas cookies to shut-ins.
But Dietz said she is probably best known for her walks through town picking up garbage. Last year she picked up trash in the Elk River High School parking lot after the snow melted. She also has cleaned up garbage in several highway medians.
