Metro Transit has added special service on the Northstar Commuter Rail line for the Monster Energy AMA Supercross / FIM World Championship at the Metrodome on Saturday, April 13.
The event begins at 7 p.m. and is expected to draw tens of thousands of fans. Regularly-scheduled Northstar trains arrive at Target Field Station in downtown Minneapolis at 11:12 a.m., 2:12 p.m. and 6:02 p.m. on Saturdays. An extra trip has been scheduled to depart Target Field Station one hour after the event concludes.
Northstar serves stations in Big Lake, Elk River, Ramsey, Anoka, Coon Rapids and Fridley. There are more than 3,000 free spaces at Park & Ride lots adjacent each station.
Customers can buy Northstar tickets online in advance at metrotransit.org/supercross. For added savings, the Northstar Roundtrip Family Pass offers roundtrip rides for two adults and up to three kids ages 6-17 for $20 (from Big Lake) or less from other stations. The Family Pass is also available for advance purchase online.
Travelling between Target Field Station and the Metrodome is free with a transfer to the Hiawatha light-rail line. Customers arriving at Target Field Station via Northstar simply use the stairs, escalator or elevator to access the light-rail platform.
Metro Transit staff will be on-hand to assist customers at Target Field and Downtown East/Metrodome stations after the event.
Additional special service on Northstar to downtown events in 2013 includes:
Kenny Chesney ‘No Shoes Nation Tour’. Friday July 12 at Target Field
Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Trucks. Saturday, July 20 at the Metrodome
Connecting Northstar Link bus service between St. Cloud and Big Lake Station will not be available after the April 13 Supercross event, but will be available for special events in July.
