Swedish Institute kicks things off for Arts Alliance

Nordic ancestry is strong in Minnesota. Immigrants from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden found the Minnesota landscape and climate similar to their home countries. The immigrants brought with them handcraft and stylistic traditions which continue today — in practice and in spirit.

Organized by the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis for the Elk River Area Arts Alliance, “Nordic by Nature” is an exhibition highlighting the design and artistic spirit of Minnesota artists of Nordic ancestry. All 21st century in approach, the exhibition embraces the Nordic love of nature and good design.

The exhibition will include paintings, prints, textiles, wood and glass.
