Employee response was overwhelming

As part of statewide efforts to raise money for food shelves during the month of March the Sherburne County Health and Human Services Department offered its employees a chance to participate in these efforts by collecting donations for distribution throughout Sherburne County.

There was an overwhelming response with over half of our employees participating, raising $1,430 for food shelves across the county—this exceeds the donation collected by our staff in 2013 by 32 percent. Donations were distributed to food shelves in Elk River, Big Lake, Becker, Clear Lake, Clearwater and Princeton.

Over the course of the current economic recession, our staff members have seen their case loads grow significantly, and I am incredibly proud that they are able to respond not just professionally, but to also respond on a personal level through donating to our local food shelves. I continue to be humbled by their work and proud that we can make such a significant difference in the lives of our neighbors. — Ken Ebel, Director Sherburne County Health and Human Services
