Central Lutheran Church and Young Life will partner again to make Elk River a cleaner place to live.
Curt Hinkle, the head of the local Young Life chapter, said the hope is to spend four hours on April 20 combing the streets and parks of Elk River to pick up trash along roadways and in parks. Last year a group of about 75 individuals picked up about 20 cubic yards of trash.
“If there’s still snow on the ground, we’ll try for April 27,” he told the Elk River Park and Recreation Commission. “If there’s still snow on the ground then, we will have other issues to worry about.”
The annual effort is a camp fundraiser for Young Life. Hinkle said the group and the church collectively raise between $7,000 and $10,000.
“Last year’s we did it in the rain,” he said.
