Basketball: Elks’ Morrell, Thunder’s Wilson picked for all-star series

Elk River’s Porter Morrell and Zimmerman’s Jake Wilson are among 40 seniors selected to the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association all-star games.

Morrell, a point guard who averaged 18.5 points and 4.8 assists, and Wilson, a forward who averaged 19.2 points and 7.6 rebounds,  will play on the Maroon team coached by Dave Montbriand of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa.

With four 10-man teams chosen, doubleheaders will be played Friday, April 5, at St. Cloud State, and Saturday, April 6, at Macalester.

Wilson, a UM-Duluth recruit, is Zimmerman’s first pick for the all-star games.
Other NWSC picks were Devin Buckley and Quinton Hooker of Park Center, Nick O’Hara of Armstrong, and Bridge Tusler of Osseo.
