Hot or cold, CAER wins with McCoy’s 5K

There were 303 runners and walkers as well as a few canines who participated in the second annual McCoys Pub 5K Walk and Run for CAER as part of the St. Patrick’s Day holiday weekend.

The walk and run raised $6,000 for CAER when runners and walkers braved the frigid temperatures March 16 to complete the fundraiser. That’s up from last year’s event that basked in summertime weather. This year’s 5K included 32 walk-up registrations, which outnumbered the 22 who registered but didn’t show.

Organizers will have a final total later this month after all the funds raised have been turned in.

The winner of the run was Emmett Haberman. Jill Varty finished second, and Will Frater finished third.
