Fresh off a panel discussion it hosted on the Affordable Care Act, the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce expressed its dismay with this past week’s passage of a state-operated health insurance exchange.
“We are disappointed in the passage of the Health Insurance Exchange in its current format,” said Debbi Rydberg, the executive director of the Elk River-area business group. “It is loaded with unnecessary expense and not enough transparency from those administering the exchange.”
Rydberg stated Elk River is comprised of many smaller employers whose employees are faced with dramatic increase in costs to buy within the exchange.
“We want to see businesses able to grow and not be taxed beyond their ability to thrive,” she said.
