Zimmerman goes green for the Expo

Touting a St. Patrick Day theme and hosting a “best booth” contest, the Zimmerman Area Chamber of Commerce expects its annual Business and Community Expo to be a very green day.

Visitors are encouraged to wear green to the March 16 event. Admission is free and there will be plenty of business giveaways and free prize drawings to keep the green going from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Many local businesses will be staffing their booths with products, giveaways, prizes and contests.

Among the many stage acts scheduled, Nelson Nursery will be giving a presentation called “For the Birds” from 10:30 to 11 a.m. If you stop by and listen, you’ll learn what trees, shrubs, and flowers attract different birds to your yard, helping you to make your yard a little more inviting to the feathered friends of your choice.

Reading Frenzy BookShop will be reviving its writing contest, which was a huge hit last year.  The winners will be announced between 12:30 and 12:45 p.m.

National children’s author and illustrator, David LaRochelle and young adult, paranormal, and fantasy author C.S. Yelle will be guests of the Expo and will be available for book signings.

Paws Up 4 You will be delivering a Dog Demo between 1 to 1:30 p.m. and for those who stick around until 1:45 p.m, there might just be rewards when the Chamber announces its prize winners.  You could win “Expo Cash” prizes of $50, $100 or $150.

The money can be spent at Chamber businesses and is intended to infuse cash back into the local economy.

The Chamber is still accepting vendors. This year one vendor will win an iPad.
