For all early birds that like to register for worthwhile events, a discount exists now in Zimmerman.  Register by March 15 to leap from the starting line of the 3rd Annual Bubba-Baseball 5K-9 Run/Walk at Zimmerman High School and you’ll only have to pay $25.  You’ll also receive a long-sleeve t-shirt.  After the deadline, the price jumps to $30 and there are no t-shirts.

Hosted by the Zimmerman Baseball Team, and also benefitting the Glen Bye Foundation, the run honors Zimmerman High School student, Glen “Bubba” Bye, who was killed in a car accident in 2010.  In his memory, the Glen Bye Foundation was created by Bubba’s family and friends to support the youth in the community and keep his legacy alive.

The event will run the morning of Saturday, April 6, rain or shine.  Check in begins at 8 a.m and the run starts at 9 a.m.  If you have a dog, be sure to run, jog, or walk in the 5 K-9, which starts immediately after the 5K.

For those who feel the finish line is too far away, keep your mind on the complimentary fruit, cookies, and bottled water waiting for you there.  First place finishing male and female runners will receive a prize pack.  A prize pack will also be awarded to the first child under the age of 12 who crosses the finish line.  As if that isn’t enough, your registration form also serves as a random drawing for door prizes to be announced.

Proceeds from the registration support the Glen Bye Foundation and the Zimmerman High School Baseball Team.  For more information, visit the Glen Bye Foundation at www.glenbyefoundation.org
