Dehumidifier at ice arena will be rebuilt

An aging dehumidifier in the Elk River Ice Arena’s Olympic rink will be rebuilt at the cost of $65,417.

The Elk River City Council has accepted the quote from Midwest Mechanical Solutions in Golden Valley, the lowest of two quotes. The other quote was from American Industrial Refrigeration for $66,067.

Some of the major components in the dehumidification system are worn to the point where they no longer operate, according to Arena Manager Rich Czech. That impacts the quality of the ice surface and decreases the efficiency of the ice-making plant.
