The city of Elk River will conduct a number of tests on the outdoor warning siren system the week of March 11. The testing is to ensure full functionality in preparation for the tornado season.
A full test of the system, in which all sites will sound, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, March 15. Technicians will perform enhancements and upgrades to the system throughout the week resulting in intermittent site activations as each site is upgraded and tested.
If severe weather is forecasted that would warrant a real activation, testing of the system will be limited and/or postponed.
