Swimming: Elk diver Bronstheyn holding 7th at state meet; finals Saturday

Elk River diver Andrew Bronshteyn holds seventh place after the preliminary and semifinal dives at the state swimming and diving meet Thursday evening at the University of Minnesota.

With eight of 11 dives completed, the Elk sophomore has 242.20 points. The leader is Rosemount junior Daniel Monaghan with  295.60.

The final three dives will be made Saturday evening, when finals for all swimming and diving events will be held.

Bronstheyn placed 20th as a freshman last year, when the top six were seniors.

Elk River senior Aaron Schwab will swim in the 200 individual medley and backstroke preliminaries on Friday evening.
