List the activities you have participated in and tell of your proudest accomplishments? Cross country, math team, jazz band, tennis, History Day, National Honors Society. Winning state tennis in 2012 and receiving fifth place in a National History Day competition in 2012.
What is your favorite class and why? What is your favorite subject: Math is my favorite class and subject. I like the process of problem solving.
What are your future plans? I want to become a mechanical engineer. I will be going to college and hope to play tennis and music while pursuing my degree.
What are your hobbies and/or personal interests? I enjoy tennis, running, building computers and reading.
Who is your hero, if you have one, and why? Anne Lundsten, my grandmother. She has supported me in everything I do. She still volunteers at a food shelf every week and is a very caring person.
Tell of a most memorable experience that relates to school, personal interests or a hobby? My brother Josh, our history teacher from Salk, Mr. Hustvedt, and I went to Washington, D.C. last summer to compete at the national level for History Day. Seeing the different displays and projects was interesting. Going all over Washington, D.C. and meeting our senators was cool.
How do you demonstrate leadership? I think people see that I am a hard worker and have a good attitude. I am quick so I lead by example more than anything.
How do you approach academics to achieve success? I try to work hard and do my best in everything I attempt to do. Academics is no different. I like to learn new things all the time and that will help me to be successful.
What special projects have you done, in or out of school? I have worked at the tennis Special Olympics for the last two years. History Day is a competition I do outside of the classroom.
Why do you think you won this award? I think I won this award to recognize my hard work and achievements. Being involved in music and sports along with my academics gives me many different opportunities to lead by example.
What does it mean to you? I really appreciate the award. It is great to be recognized.
