Wrestling: Spectrum’s Nolden earns state trip
Spectrum freshman Luke Nolden qualified for the state wrestling meet with a second-place finish in Section 5AA last Saturday at Fridley.
Nolden (25-15) had a 3-1 record at sectionals as he placed second behind Logan Stiller of Monticello. He will face Dylan O’Connell of Chisago Lakes in the first round Friday at Xcel Energy Center.
Spectrum, coached by Sean Ryther, had 10 entrants at sectionals and six of the them placed.
Ryan Killeen went 3-1 and placed 3rd at 106 pounds. Esteban Teigen went 2-2 and placed 4th at 113. Sam Rogers went 4-2 and placed 3rd at 126. Shane Herrlin went 2-3 and placed 6th at 160. Elliot Uecker went 1-2 and placed 5th at 220.
