Basketball: Thunder girls thump Flyers in rematch 61-30; playoffs next

The Zimmerman Thunder cruised 61-30 over Little Falls, avenging an earlier loss, in their regular-season finale Friday evening.

“Good win for the last home game. The kids played hard, on Senior Night,” said coach Lance Dalbey. “When we lost to them up there, we did not play hard. We had good, solid defense tonight and worked hard on the boards.”

The Thunder, who lost to Little Falls 55-48 on Jan. 22, finished 5-11 in the Granite Ridge, same as the Flyers.

Zimmerman is 11-15 overall and will have a low seed and an away game on in Section 5AAA Tuesday at either Monticello or Dassel-Cokato, said Dalbey.

Heather McCormick scored 16 points, and Amber Magnuson and Kaitlyn Mason eight each, for the Thunder.
McCormick, Magnuson, Melissa Dorn and Lexi Weimeri were the seniors honored in their final home game.
