The first production of SOAR Academy, a youth theatre group based in St. Micheal, will be “The Jungle Book Kids!,” opening Feb. 28.

This group is a new division of SOAR Regional Arts, which started last year, for kids from St. Michael, Otsego, Albertville, Rogers and Elk River.

“With the success of Willy Wonka this past summer, and tremendous community support, local nonprofit SOAR Regional Arts has expanded to include a youth division, SOAR Academy,” stated a press release from the organization publicist Debbie Bishop.

The group invites you to “join Mowgli, Baloo, King Louie and the gang as they swing their way through madcap adventures and thwart the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan.”

The producer is Jamie Cassidy and the director is Ben Ratkowski.

Specially adapted from the beloved film, this musical includes favorite Disney tunes like “The Bare Necessities,” and “I Wan’na Be Like You” with colorful characters and that toe-tapping jungle rhythm.

Performances are scheduled for Feb. 28 and March 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m. and March 2 and 3 at 2 p.m.  at the St Michael Catholic School Stage. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door as available.  Visit the SOAR Regional Arts website at www.soararts.com.

“SOAR Academy strives to exceed the regular theater experience by having children engage in ‘Beyond the Stage Sessions.’ No more sitting around and waiting to go on stage. The sessions are led by qualified individuals and offer a wide variety of educational enrichment in addition to regular rehearsals.  Skills that are gained through SOAR Academy not only apply to the Performing Arts, but can be utilized in all facets of life.”
