Basketball: Elk girls fall to Crimson 65-46, finish 10-10 in NWSC

The Elk River girls were drubbed by Maple Grove 65-46 to close the regular season Thursday evening in Maple Grove.

The Crimson nailed eight 3-point shots as they beat the Elks for the second time. Kelly Olzenak sank 18 points and Angie Davison 13 for the Crimson (15-5 conference, 19-7 overall).

Elk freshman center Abi Scheid scored 15 points, including 7-for-7 on free shots, but nobody else could get untracked against the Crimson. Shelby Gracik, Jordyn Sohns and Anna Rollag were next with 5 points each.

The Elks finished 10-10 in the Northwest Suburban for seventh place among 11 teams. They will take a 14-12 overall mark into Section 8AAAA play starting Tuesday.
