Basketball: Elk girls lose to Park Center 80-50

The Elk River girls were pummeled by Park Center, a team they beat earlier, by an 80-50 margin on Friday evening in Brooklyn Park.

“They just took it to us,” said coach Reed Caouette. “They pressured us and we made too many turnovers. We missed a lot of free shots. They made a lot of easy baskets. At times it seemed like they had six or seven players out there.”

Kayla McMorris scored 22 to lead the Pirates (11-7 conference, 15-7 overall).
The Elks, who beat the Pirates 69-56 at home Jan. 4, fell to 9-9 in conference and 13-11 overall.

Anna Rollag scored 10 points, Abi Scheid nine and Shelby Gracik eight for the Elks.

Elk River will host Armstrong on Tuesday, their final conference home game.
