Nordic Ski: Elks trio places 29, 44, 49 at state, led by Webster
Elk River’s trio of state qualifiers in Nordic Skiing made a good showing at the state meet Thursday, placing 29th through 49th among 119 racers at Mesabi.
Elk senior Nate Webster placed 29th with a 3:14.96 pursuit time (16:11 freestyle, 15:38 classic).
Elk junior Joey Martin placed 44th with 32:13.8 (16:13 and 16:00.8).
Elk junior Breck Hickman placed 49th in 32:40 (16:25 and 16:15).
The champion was Hopkins senior Jacob Ellingson in 29:24.4.
Top-ranked Eden Prairie was team champion by a 378 to 358 margin over second-place Ely, with Forest Lake third at 345.
Eden Prairie is the team that beat No. 4 ranked Elk River by just 390 to 367 at sectionals a week earlier, with the Elks top skier, Jake Schroeder, slowed by the flu.
The girls race was won by Anna Kubek of Duluth East in 33:58.
Wayzata was champion with 365, followed by Duluth East 362 and Roseville Area 351.
