Basketball: Thunder boys lose at Milaca 70-66

Missing their scoring leader and floor leader, the Zimmerman boys lost their fourth straight game, 70-66 to Milaca, on Tuesday evening in Milaca.

Jake Wilson, averaging 21 points, has missed the last two full games and most of the game before that, since spraining an ankle early in the Princeton game. Point guard Max McNulty has missed five games with a concussion.

The Thunder were led by Kristian Bright with 24 points and Noah Lunning with 20. Bright shot 10-for-21 and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Lunning shot 8-for-15 and snagged 8 rebounds.

Justin Fransen scored 17, Mike Garber 16, Matt VanSomeren 14 and Nick Wolberg 11 for Milaca.

The Thunder shot 26-for-58 from the field and 1-for-11 on three’s while sinking 13 of 15 free shots.

The Thunder, who beat Milaca 63-34 on Jan. 10, fell to 4-8 in the Granite Ridge and 8-13 overall. Milaca is 2-10 in conference and 6-13 overall.

Zimmerman will play at Foley on Friday.
