Softball: Ex-Elk athlete DeMars named to state softball hall of fame
Chaun DeMars, former Elk athlete now living in Becker, was recently inducted into the Minnesota USSSA Softball Hall of Fame.
DeMars, 44, is a longtime slow-pitch slugger on many high-calibre teams. By his count, he has played on 13 teams that won national and/or world titles, including Class AA twice and Class B once; has played in 25 states; has been named to all-World tourney teams a dozen times; and has won offensive and defensive MVP awards at world tournaments.He played for Team USA against Team Canada in 2010, an annual showdown televised by ESPN.
DeMars currently plays with Tharaldson softball, an ASA Class A team and USSSA Class B team which he says is the top team in the Midwest.
A 1987 ERHS graduate who played football and baseball for the Elks, he is owner of Next Level Logistics, a freight brokerage firm in Becker.
