Wrestling: Elks beat Spring Lake Park and Irondale, lose to Detroit Lakes

The Elk River wrestlers beat Spring Lake Park and Irondale while losing to Detroit Lakes at the Blaine Duals on Saturday.

Garrett Cadon at 103 and Robert Schmitz at 170 each had three wins. Evan Caldon, ranked No. 5 at 132, won twice and lost a decision to Detroit Lakes’ Zach Baker.

Elk River (7-6) will close the regular season at Blaine on Thursday.

The Elks beat Spring Lake Park 58-15 with six forfeits, major decisions by Garrett Caldon and Cole Moening, and decisions by Andrew Perry, Evan Caldon, and Schmitz.

The Elks lost to Detroit Lakes 33-30. Jacob Brown had a pin, while Ben Gibas and Moening earned major decisions, and Garret Caldon, Perry, Kyle Ziemer, Schmitz and Justin Gagnon picked up decisions.

The Elks beat Irondale 61-15 with six forfeits, and pins by Garrett Caldon, Gibas, and Evan Caldon,, a major by Schmitz, and decision by Ryan Osberg.
